   Robert Hadley Sydnor is a California geologist living in Fair Oaks, California.   e-mail: [email protected]
   Bob is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America, a Life Member of the American Geophysical Union, the Seismological Society of America, the Association of Engineering Geologists, the California Academy of Sciences, and a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, the Arctic Institute of North America, and the National Ground Water Association.  His geological specialties are landslides, active faults, earthquake ground motion, liquefaction, earth grading, and expansive soils. 
   Bob is an alumnus of John Muir High School, Pasadena; Whittier College (BA, geology); University of Copenhagen (foreign student as a 19-year old Sophomore), and the University of California at Riverside (MS, geology).  His thesis was on the granitic rocks of Mount San Jacinto, near Palm Springs.  During the Vietnam War, Bob served six years in the 18th Armored Cavalry, and in a military intelligence reserve unit with the Sixth Army.  While a university student, he spent three summers in the U.S. Forest Service (firefighting) and four summers in arctic Alaska as a geologist.
  In his spare time, he rides an Arabian endurance horse, and is a member of the American Endurance Ride Conference.
  Bob is a divorced single father, and his son Christopher Robert Sydnor was born in 1987.  They enjoy camping, hiking, and attending church together.
