Promethean Fest:The Digital Fest , "Kolkata’s first Digital Fest", started as an attempt by some senior school students to ensure that the youth community does not miss out the experience of fests because of the ensuing pandemic and to let them be engaged in different creative pursuits in such troubling times. With time and a lot of effort, The first Chapter was a huge success, owing to the hard work of the Core Committee and the enthusiasm shown by our participants and supporters. It aims to encourage everyone to not let their creativity dim out, because Promethean provides a safe platform to showcase your talents! The fest name, “Promethean” is derived from the name of the Greek God, Prometheus, who brought fire to the humans and gave us a flame of hope and creativity.

Chapter I, consisting of 9 events which included music, dance, photography, writing, fashion, e-sports, meme-making, art and debate was quite a success, inspite of being an entirely unpaid fest. The events brought in more than 350 participants from all over the city and beyond. It was conducted in the months of May and June. The enthusiasm shown by the participants and the youth community in general was appreciable and the Core Committee, who worked very hard on every detail of each event, were pleasantly gratified. Our first week of commencement started on a reach of 9,483 and impressions of 1,12,834 while by the third week, we were soaring at a reach of 16,445 and impressions of 1,70,440. Prometheus kindled the flame of hope and creativity in us, which inspires us to rekindle the same flame of hope and creativity for the youth who have been home-bound for over 4 months now, with no appropriate platform to showcase their talent on. With this thought fresh in our minds and hearts, we introduce Chapter II to one and all!

We present to you “60 Seconds of You”, where you will have a whole minute to showcase your abilities, be it shadow art or gymnastics, glitter art or short stand-up comedy, even mimicry. Be creative. Be innovative. THIS is your thing. Flaunt it just the way you want it. But remember, 60 seconds only! WORDSWORLD: Writing Event The pen has always been mightier than the sword. Words and verses have power to do so much more. To make you feel, see, love, and cry. We, at Promethean, invite all of you poets and storytellers to ink your thoughts into beautifully written creations and invoke awe with the stroke your pen. Let the pages blot, let the ink go dry but don’t let your thoughts escape. We give you the platform for your thoughts, so that you can focus on your creativity. SEALED BID: Marketing Auction Event Are you the one who’s good with money and knows how to strike a deal? Someone who knows exactly how to pitch his products to the audience? Well, if yes, then “Sealed Bid” is the event for you! Get an industry, make a product and pitch it to us via a presentation. From buying and trading of industries to pitching advertising presentations, we bring you a completely new marketing event. This is your platform to experiment and learn, because these skills will definitely be necessary in your future. PAINTS AND STROKES: Art Event A brush of colours makes the world a little lighter and a little brighter, be it on paper or on computer screens. If you are an artist who loves playing with brushes and pencils or pixels and margins, we welcome you to participate in “Paints and Strokes”. It can be of any genre, both manual and digital- your imagination reflected in the kaleidoscope of colours and shades, your thoughts depicted on white canvases and empty screens with brushes and pixels. MUDRAS vs BOURREE: Dance Event Twirling and turning, twisting and twerking to the music, watch as the feet of a dancer flies across the floor in mesmerizing manner. Turn on the music, keep your dancing shoes ready and let your feet tap away as Promethean brings you “Mudras vs Bourree”. Any genre, any style, any form. It’s your stage, spotlight’s on you, so dance it out. Let the emotions bubble at every vein of yours, let the music filter through your entire body. For once, let it all go. Let your feet do the magic, let your hands be free and flowing. McCURRY IS MY ANCESTOR: Photography Event A snap of lens, and there you go! A moment perfectly captured in a rectangular frame. Time flies, moments dissolve, memories fade out but photographs stay within the bounded frames, forever to cherish. After all, don’t we all love a lazy afternoon of going through our albums or scrolling through our folders of photos? We, at Promethean, call all photographers to bring us their framed talents and give us a glimpse through their lens, the way they want us to see the world, through our event “McCurry Is My Ancestor”. CLOUDING: Coding Event Are you a good coder? Were you bored in school and thought that the Fibonacci Series is just so easy? Then this event is definitely just for you. Brush up your skills in C++, Java and Python since we bring to you “Clouding”, the Digital Coding Event! Get yourself ready for a total blast this Chapter! “JOKE’S ON YOU”: Roasting and Comedy Event Don’t we all love roasting others? Favourite pastime when things get a tad boring, huh? Well, if you know you are good at it, why not flaunt it? Especially if you’ve always been the “funny one” in the class, “Joke’s On You” is definitely the event you need for that. Showcase your comedy and roasting abilities and entertain the viewers with a hearty laugh in these trying times. E-SPORTS TOURNAMENT: E-Sports Event Are you the one who watches Mortals or your favourite gamers of each and every stream and keep a tab on their accounts on Instagram every hour or so? Are you the one who has mastered each and every gun in PUBG and is bored of the regular lobby now? Then we bring to you Promethean’s E-Sports Tournament, where you can compete against other teams and win exciting prizes! Hurry up, because only a few sports are left! Let’s go! SERENADING STRINGS : Music Event Music, they say, is the language of the soul. We all have those playlists that define our moods, places and people. Promethean invites all musicians, singers, rappers and beatboxers to give us new and old musical submissions that will pull at our heart strings with their serenading strings. For one and for all, “Serenading Strings” is definitely the platform you were waiting for to showcase your talent, while we were waiting to hear your covers and originals.
