ABIS-Query (AQ) is a Microsoft Windows based SQL query builder and SQL script designer software tool used to administer and execute queries against the most common database systems. ABIS-Query is created by a small Switzerland software company, BOS-Software, and is distributed and supported through the Internet. AQ is designed for use by database administrators, developers and advanced end-user.

Architecture

AQ is a Windows C# application base on a modern and intuitive GUI that use several integrated connectors to the most popular databases or ODBC drivers to access the databases. AQ directly queries the catalog meta data of well known data base management systems, which makes it very fast for exploring the data structures of enterprise size data bases.

Data Base Management Systems of which AQ is aware of the catalog structure include Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres and MySQL.

License

There are two levels of licensing of ABIS-Query: the 30 days trial version and the Registred License, both allows full functionality.

Functionality

Data Base Connector

SAP, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, Firebird, MySQL, Microsoft Access, Adavantage Database and ODBC

Database and data Explorer

The database explorer panel allows the user to display information about the data base objects in that data base. There is a filter box to search an object into the database. The [Drag and Drop] function is used to automatically create a SQL block with a SELECT instruction. AQ allows to open a data selection view from a table or a view into a popup windows with advanced filtering capabilities.

SQL Editor

The SQL editor is a coloured sql syntaxer for easy viewing and editing the script. It allows to write some sequential scprit block, which will be transmited to the core SQL in one block or in sequential mode. AQ allows to manupulate the results directly in memory to define a link between the results tables or apply a "where" instruction without change the initial sql script block.

Data Window

In addition to simply displaying the results of a query, the data window allows data's sorting, using aggregate function and advanced filtering. The query results can also be exported to various file formats including MS-Excel spreadsheets, CSV files, XML and XSD files.

GUI Query Builder

The GUI Query Builder allows building SQL queries with point and click simplicity, which is handy for novice SQL programmers.

Data Loader

AQ includes a data loader tool that makes it easy to load data into tables from Excel spreadsheet sources.

Scripting Feature

AQ allows creation and execution of scripts with some amazing extended capabilities, the scripts can be saved in specific files and into the AQ's library.

Library

When a script is saved into the library, the user can directly run this script from the library area without loading it previously. As a runtime mode.

History

AQ was created by ERP, BI and DBA specialits from Switzerland. ABIS-Query is a subset of a Business Intelligence solution owner. This BI solution is named ABIS (Advanced Business Intelligence Software). AQ has been created to facilitate the work of extracting and consolidating data for their use for analysis. AQ is for developers, for database administrators, for advanced end users and for final end user in runtime mode.
