Oppus is a DJ and researcher in electronic music trends. Positioned himself into particular aspects in the middle of the global digital sounds. His aspect is the Progressive - strand that unites or merges sub-genres of progressive House, Trance and Techno.
Oppus' practices differ from the routine of most Dj's: he developed large network of online contacts - Dj's and producers - national and international, not only confined himself to progressive. Other styles inspire and develop his critical and aesthetic senses. In parallel to the dance floor, Oppus launched one of his sets on the global web radio Justmusic (www.justmusic.fm), specialized in Progressive House. He also helped in the selection of albums and artists for InnHype, a DJ shop in Rio de Janeiro. He had his Podcast (http://canal.podcast1.com.br/oppus).
DJ Oppus started his career in 2001, playing occasionally at some friends’ parties, in Rio de Janeiro. The volume of calls to play and the passion for music led him to acquire the technical skills taught by Master Dj Schild. The practice led him to the Progressive aspect while he accompanied the boom of Trance raves in the country. Because of his cultural and technical know-how he was invited to join the team of "In Carioca", a music column on the web portal Electronic Brazil in São Paulo, where performed analysis of Trance,Techno and House Dj presentations, at events in Rio de Janeiro (www.eletronicbrasil.com.br).
In August 2002 he was selected to play in the Woodstick tent for the second edition of Ecosystem festival (promoted by Greenpeace, in partnership with Liquid Sky Label), in Manaus. The winds blew favorably and Oppus had the chance to present himself at the main dance floor and was the only DJ from Rio to mark presence at the event. Also in 2002, he commanded the dance floor #2 at the acclaimed Bunker 94 (Rio de Janeiro), and also participated in chill-outs for privates in Rio, acquiring ability in the ambient style. In 2003, he was selected by the pioneering Plug Project (www.projetoplug.tk) to play in his first major event in Rio. Then, he played during the second edition of Live Music Space festival, among great national and international Djs. Since then, Oppus has played at the best nightspots in Rio and Sao Paulo as: D-Edge, Dama de Ferro and Nova Clube. He has also played for Tropical Beats Label.
