B. S. Sasirekha (also spelled B.S. Sasireka) is an Indian playback singer known for her work in Tamil cinema. She sang in numerous Tamil film soundtracks during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, and collaborated with several leading South Indian music directors and playback singers. Sasirekha worked with composers including Ilaiyaraaja, M S Viswanathan, Shankar–Ganesh, and others in the Tamil film industry. During her career, she recorded songs alongside playback singers such as T. M. Soundararajan, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, K. J. Yesudas, and S. Janaki.
Career
Sasirekha was active primarily as a playback singer in Tamil-language films. Her songs appeared in films across multiple decades and were released through leading South Indian music labels. She became known for songs featured in films including Apoorva Raagangal, Oomai Vizhigal, Mann Vasanai, Velaikaran, and Kizhakku Cheemayile. Her collaborations included work with several prominent composers and lyricists of Tamil cinema.
