Helen Molyneux is a welsh Entrepreneur who founded one of the UK's leading and fastest growing personal injury law firms, NewLaw Solicitors, where she serves as CEO across offices based in Cardiff, Bristol, Basingstoke and Glasgow. On 11th March 2011 Helen won Best Women in Legal Business[1], further proceeding to win overall Welsh Women of the Year for her unique, alternate business model (ABM) [2]. Of which, on 24th April 2012 became the 1st Welsh and 4th overall practice to be licensed as an ABM by the Solicitors Regulation Authority[3]. Helen's idea originated when she met a gentleman on a train from London, talking about the insurance market as he owned an insurance brokers. They came up with the idea of creating a law firm that manages personal injury claims from insurance companies and brokers[4].

In 2013, Helen was named Law Society Business Women of the year for employing over 470 people in the UK, turning over £35m annually by working with leading consumer brands to deliver the best services to their customers[5].

12th March 2014 Helen was appointed as the new chair of The Institute of Welsh Affairs (IWA), only the 3rd person to chair since its was created in 1987[6]

In 2015 The University of South Wales awarded Helen with an Honorary Doctorate of Laws in recognition of her contributions to law and the economy in Wales [7].

Personal Life

Helen was born March 1965, in the welsh town of Caerphilly and educated at Cardinal Newman Roman Catholic School, Rhydyfelin. After recieving her A-levels, Helen trained as a journalist, working for her local newspaper. Later studying Law at Cardiff University and qualifying as a solicitor in 1991. Initially Helen worked for Eversheds, Cardiff, as an insurance law expert, where she became a partner at in 1994 and worked until NewLaw was established[8].
