Ultimate Football Live is a football management MMO game currently being developed by Netsports Software Limited. The game originated under the working title of "Soccer Universe" in April 2011 before being renamed "Ultimate Football Live" the following month. The game aims to fill a void in the MMO market with a client based football management game where users sign up and play each other in real time.
The idea for a community driven football management MMO was born following the demise of Football Manager Live which was discontinued by Sports Interactive in May 2011[1]. In April 2011, several gamers[2] came together to begin a co-operative based project with a view to created a game from scratch. Work on the game[3] is ongoing and is being undertaken by a core development team. However, key to the development of the game is the input from the online community, and to this end, the developers have created forums and chatrooms to allow ideas and suggestions to be raised. On top of this, members of the community have been invited to help with the development, design, planning and marketing of Ultimate Football Live (UFLive)[4].
Although the game is still in its early stages of development at the time of writing, there has been alot of work put in. In August 2011 the development stage of the project began to be discussed in a series of blogs[5] with a view to giving an insight into the process. The blogs were written by the Netsports Software Company Secretary, Thom Morgan, and they detail the work already carried out and the future path of the project. The developers are aiming to have an Alpha testing phase in place in early 2012, with a Beta testing phase following later in the year[6].
