I once wrote to a friend who asked whether they should donate to Wikipedia:

Donate! Wikipedia is one of the great great wonders of our world. In 5000 years, our civilization (from the beginning of humanity until now) will be known and studied through Wikipedia and YouTube, the two greatest archives of knowledge in the history of humanity. Nothing else comes close.

I have also donated a few times.

Back in 2006, I thought of a game-theoretic solution to Wikipedia edit wars, and wrote about it in my blog[1].
