Ashley Karen Colburn (born March 31, 1987)[1] is an American television host, producer, entrepreneur, and travel expert,[2] notable for her work as the host of several WealthTV shows including Emmy award-winning "WOW: Croatia"[3] and "Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu."[4] She created "Takeoff with Ashley Colburn", a travel series that premiered in 2010 on WealthTV, which took her to more than 25 countries on six continents over the span of two seasons. As of late 2011, Ashley started her own production company, Ashley Colburn Productions with the aim of "Finding the Wonder of the World." [5] She began filming her own series highlighting the wonder of Croatia and Slovenia, which has been distributed to numerous international markets. In addition to producing and hosting her own series, she is a host for a new web series through GoGo Vacations titled "Paradise Found".[6] She just finished hosting a web series and tour of Croatia called "Discover Croatia". [7]

Personal life

Colburn was born in Fallbrook, California. She has lived her entire life in Southern California. She graduated from Fallbrook Union High School before heading to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, to major in Journalism and Technical Communication with a minor in Spanish. [8] Ashley enjoyed her work throughout college at CTV, her campus television station[9] where she was a producer, weather caster, news anchor and creator of a half hour series about traveling in Colorado, called “Inside Colorado, College Style.”[10] During her college years, she interned at ABC in Los Angeles, was an editor for the San Diego County Fair newsletter for two summers, and hosted “Ecofishing Adventures” on the Outdoor Channel, The Sportsman Channel and FOX Sports West. Career

WealthTV

After graduating from Colorado State University in 2009, Colburn began her career as a host, producer and writer for WealthTV. At WealthTV, she produced her first travel show "WOW Croatia" which was awarded Croatia's Golden Pen award[12] and won an Emmy in 2010. After her initial success, she created "Takeoff with Ashley Colburn" a travel series that premiered on WealthTV in 2010. Her show took her to Zermatt, Buenos Aires, Tunisia, Sweden, New Zealand, and Thailand among others over the span of two seasons. [13] Colburn received a second Emmy in 2012 for her work on the program “Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu.” Also, “TAKEOFF: Thailand” was awarded a Telly Award, and the Silver prize in the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition. Ashley Colburn Production

In late 2011, Colburn left WealthTV to start her own production company, Ashley Colburn Productions. The motto of the company is "Finding the Wonder of the World. Wonderful people. Wonderful culture. Wonderful history." Her first major independent production was "Wonders of Croatia," a seven-part travel series that covers the main tourist regions of the country, which was distributed to 150 million houses worldwide. In addition she has worked on programs in Slovenia, Latvia and Switzerland.[15]

Television Host

Colburn began her career as a television host and producer in college at Colorado State Univeristy. She hosted her own show called "Inside Colorado: Colorado Style". She also was the host of a fishing show called "Ecofishing Adventures." While at WealthTV, she hosted many shows including her own, often producing them as well. She still produces and hosts every show that she creates, but in her free time she has found time to be a host for an online series for GoGo Vacations called "Paradise Found".[7] In addition, she recently teamed up with TouristarTV to host "Discover Croatia", which took journalists, writers, and bloggers on a journey around Croatia. Other Work

Outside of hosting and producing on camera, Ashley enjoys sharing her stories in person. She has spoken for journalism classes at Oregon State University and Colorado State University as well as for rotary clubs throughout Southern California. She has also been a Television Panelist at NEM in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and has been featured as a travel expert for events throughout the world.[17] In addition, Colburn enjoys serving as a travel consultant, and designs tour packages throughout Croatia. These tours present an opportunity for Ashley to share her knowledge of the country that she has grown to love.[18]
