History of the Family

Mr. Koshy Abraham established the family in 1965 at Chengaroor, a place in Kallooppara village of Kerala state.

Mr. Abey Koshy is the living heir of the Family. Mr. Abey graduated in Economics from SB College and Post Graduated in Business Management (MBA) from University of Madras.

The family house and 3 acres of family property in Cheriyanad is donated to Orthodox Sabha in 2012 by the unmarried sisters of the family. Mr. Abey build the new house at Chengaroor, Mallappally in 2012.

  • Daughter of Late Rev. Fr. P J Jacob and Late Mrs. Mariamma Jacob, Vattasseril Poikudiyil.
  • Worked for 37 years as a teacher in well known Govt. Schools at Alappuzha and Kottayam districts.
  • Retired as Headmistress from Govt. School, Sreekandamangalam, Kottayam in 1996.

Nackolackal Building, Chengaroor

History of the Building

The building was constructed in 1963 by Late Rev. Fr. P J Jacob (Poikudiyil Achan). Nackolackal Building is the only remaining old multi storied concrete building in this place. The building is roofed with reinforced cement concrete and the strong concrete beams used reflects the great engineering skills of that time. The construction of the building started in 1961 and the building opened in 1963. The first Post Office in Chengaroor is functioned in this building in 1970. In those days several institutions like Type Writing Institute, Tuition Center etc were functioned in this building. The building was sold to Kochumannil family after the partition in 1988.

Developments

Nackolackal Buildings is retained by Mr. Abey Koshy in 2009. Today the building is one of the prime business center at Chengaroor. The first Akshaya Kendra was opened at this building in 2012 by Mr. P J Joseph (Rtd. Senior Section Engineer, Indian Railways). Jinz Media Center, Angel Tours and Travels, V G Computer Sales & Services are some of the establishments operating currently at this building. JMC and VG together first broadcasted the live coverage of "Perunnal Rasa" in 2012 through internet. Undoubtedly the building is a wall of lineage for Chengaroor and in year 2013 family celebratrd the 50th anniversary of the construction of this building.

Get together of family is a custom practiced from beginning at the time of Chengaroor Pally Perunnal Rasa on May 09th. The procession begins at Madukoly junction and passes through infront of Nackolackal Bungalow and Nackolackal Building. Bungalow and Building are decorated with candle lights and it is an oppurtunity for the family members to see their freinds and relatives.
