User:MsEditor
I'm a freelance editor, proofreader, and indexer based in Toronto, Canada. As an editor, I specialize in scientific and technical materials. My favourite editorial activity is helping subject-matter experts communicate with nonspecialists, especially in the fields of medicine, science, and technology.
I discovered Wikipedia on December 23, 2004, and felt like a kid in a candy store. You'd think I'd get enough of making language correct, clear, and concise during my working hours. But no--it turns out I like to come here and do it for fun and for the public good.

Society for Technical Communication - Toronto chapter: STC Toronto and its parent organization are great places to learn about technical writing and editing. I belong to STC SIGs on Canadian issues; indexing; scientific communication; and technical editing.
Edgewords: My own Web site (hand-coded), which is basically a giant business card listing every project I've worked on in my 20-odd years--some of them odder than others!--in this business. Experience not yet included on the site:
- specifics of my 15 years' worth of designing and teaching seminars and keynote addresses on writing, editing, and small-business topics for professional associations and for public- and private-sector groups
- samples of my writing and ghost-writing: training materials (e.g., user guides, procedures, seminar manual sections); newsletter articles (e.g., how-to pieces, interviews); marketing materials (e.g., promotional brochures, trade-show giveaways, book-jacket copy); book reviews; etc.
