Morgan “HOLLYWOOD” Monroe's Bio

In 1973, Morgan Monroe started skateboarding in Anderson, Indiana. He was a member of the Anderson Sidewalk Surfers. In 1978 He moved to Clearwater, Florida, where he became a fixture at Clearwater Skateboard Park until 1982, when it was closed. His mother understood the importance of skateboarding in her kid’s lives and leased Skate Wave Skateboard Park in Tampa, Florida for a year. In 1986 Morgan built his first back yard half pipe, beginning his long tenure as the builder of many small quarter and half pipes honing his skills in erecting a variety of innovative skateboarding designs. In 1987 he built his first real half pipe that was 16' wide with 10 ' of flat and 8 foot tall with 8' transition. In 1989 he put together one of the very first vert to mini spine ramps. The deep end was 10' with 12' tombstones, 24' wide, with 18’ of flat , the deck of the deep end side had a 3.5’ mini ramp. The 6 ' mini ramp side of the spine had 8' transition with a bi-level deck.

Pro Bones Brigade Skateboard Legend, Mike "Mc Twist" McGill, asked Morgan to help him with his indoor skateboard park in Oldsmar, Florida. In 1991 Morgan moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida there he started construction on a new, innovative skateboard park built over a lake on telephone poles. It too, was a spine ramp. Cocoa Brach is where Morgan got his first real taste of Stunt Modeling, a bug he has not yet shaken. At this point Morgan began taking modeling and acting classes. At the end of 1992 he left Florida for Las Angeles, California to pursue acting and stunt work.

After one of many injuries in 2003, Morgan decided to take a short break and move back to his Florida home, allowing time to mend. In no time, his circle of friends began to call him “HOLLYWOOD” after the place he worked and called home for years. The name caught on fast. He started networking with old friends from Hollywood by phone and e-mail. Morgan started working on a project called the “HOLLYWOOD Project” with the group called “The HOLLYWOOD Network”; their vision to start producing their own films. Morgan then opened his production company, Monroe Productions International. Morgan “HOLLYWOOD” Monroe has always felt like the community should be more involved in skateboarding and he works with city skate parks and recreation centers, promoting skateboarding in a positive light. The HOLLYWOOD Summit Show’s “BATTLE OF THE SUMMIT” 2010 Series is the culmination of two years of numerous competition/shows, the perfect blending of extreme sport and entertainment.
