Mocanu Alexandru (December 20, 1990 - ) was born at Bucharest (22:22 local time). Son of Anica and Ionel Mocanu (later Mocanu Andreescu) and twin brother of Vlad, he never showed interest in a specific subject until graduating school. That was the first major event in his life, being mainly represented by the National Exams where he had a terribly disappointing performance which not only encouraged him to work harder but also helped him to discover one of the best rather anonymous than well known collleges, "Mihai Eminescu" National College. He spends there his 9th grade in an Informatics intensive teaching class.

One of his greatest passions, Mocanu Alexandru can speak English fluently and has a good level in French, Esperanto and Spanish. He is studying at the moment to obtain a Certificate in Advanced English and plans to go for a Diplôme d'Etudes Françaises in the future.

He started studying mathematics seriously since he was 15, after the disappointing result at the National Exams, where he obtained a final mark of 8,21. "This event incredibly motivated me to study math -and not only- harder and harder as i was expected to get a better mark and prove my knowledge".

In his 9th grade, he reached for the first time the third phase of the Romanian Mathematical Olympiad where he scored 5 out of 28 which assured him the 25th place. "I don't mind, i didn't have enought experience do to better than that even though i sacrificed many hours to get a decent mark. Notice that i prepared myself alone with no external help, not even from my teacher. I hope to go to the final round in the 10th grade, i will start my preparations in April. Who knows, i may participate at a Balkan Mathematical Olympiad some day.".

The 9th grade brought him a new passion, that of programming. He learnt Pascal from watching older students' source codes and used it at the local phase of the Romanian Olympiad in Informatics. At the beginning of 2007, mainly because of highschool topics, he started C++ and at the moment targets to master it. Moreover, he got into Java a couple of months ago.

Talking about web, he got interested in HTML in his last months of the 7th grade and the beginning of the 8th. At the moment, he can handle easily both HTML and JavaScript, also targetting PHP.
