Noj Barker is a contemporary British artist^[1]. Entirely self-taught^[2], he began painting 2007, and since then has exhibited in America, Dubai and the U.K, including a solo presentation at the Saatchi Gallery^[3], along with exhibitions at Heathrow and Gatwick airports,^[4]as well as in high profile London restaurants and clubs.^[5][6] In recent years, however, he has eschewed gallery representation in favour of promoting his work through social media platforms — one video on Instagram received 27.4 million views.^[7]

Rendered in acrylic in colour and monochrome, his signature ‘dot paintings’ are comprised of uniting conglomerations of dots that bisect one another creating unique, intricate patterns.^[8][9] Drawing on a variety of influences, amongst them the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama^[10][11], his creative process is noted for its obsessive and meticulous nature, with his large-scale paintings sometimes taking up six months to complete.

On leaving school – Barker attended Eton College^[12] — he studied dance at the London Studio Centre (1979-1980) and Rambert Ballet School (1980-1983)^[13]. going on to work as a professional dancer, touring in Italy and Japan between 1983 and 1986^[14], before embarking on his career as an artist in 2007^[15]. He currently lives in Northamptonshire with his wife and four children.^[16]
