The motto of the AIW is conservata veritate, which translates to "with the preserved truth".
This motto reflects the inclusionist desire to change Wikipedia only when no knowledge would be lost as a result.
Maynard first learned about Wikipedia at a mid-day luncheon meeting of the Boston Vegan Meetup in Harvard Square, where another vegan told him about this great new free-content online encyclopedia that had been created to complement Nupedia. He became one of the earlier users of Wikipedia long before he began microediting articles, typically punctuation on articles he read for the purposes of his work at the Harvard Medical School.
Maynard is a Senior Editor II (or Most Pluperfect Labutnum), and has been a Wikipedian since early February 2007 (20 February 2007) and spends far TOO MUCH time on it. He has started hundreds of such articles - many Wikipedia articles were accepted (and some have NOT been accepted). Maynard has been a Wikipedian Editor now for nearly sixteen years. He has made over 33,560 edits so far (more than 2000 edits per year and about 200 edits/month and 4.9 edits/day [4.9 for 6,696 days] - not that many, and WAY down from his previous productivity 'metrics' of 5.9 edits/day and 2020 edits per year, but far more than most registered 'Wikipedian editors' do on Wikipedia!). These >4300 accepted Wikipedia articles (plus some that have NOT been accepted) can be broken down in various into categories of articles, or types of articles, or types of contributions. That's not here because super-editors thought it should not appear in my profile.
Maynard has now earned and thus now holds all badges prior to Veteran Editor IV, Tutnum of the Encyclopedia badges and ribbons, given when he completed each stage along the way, determined by (a) total number of Wikipedia edits and (b) total time elapsed since first qualifying as a Wikipedia editor.
Metrics for Wikipedia editors may not be fully automated, so one's individually gathering data on one's work can be challenging.
One's counting the number of articles, graphics contributed, or other work done on any of the Wikipedia projects can be daunting for long-time Wikipedians.
And once data is gathered, "it get's old" as soon as one begins another project or set of projects.
What has been automated is the number of edits and the number of files uploaded. We now need a program pull that data across the projects into one's userpages.
-> In starting, maintaining, improving, working on, or tweaking >4200 accepted Wikipedia articles, (see break down below), Maynard has made made over 33,560 Wikipedia edits over these past 15+ years (over 2011 edits per year).
These 100+ started articles and ~4000 accepted Wikipedia articles (plus some that have NOT been accepted) break down (approximately) as follows:
Primary Contributor - Started/Initiated or Maintained - 100s Started
Significant Structural Improvements 100+
Improved 2500+
Initiated or Maintained - 100s Started
Contributed to - >4200 accepted Wikipedia articles
Worked On and made Significant Contributions - >4200 accepted Wikipedia articles
Edited - 600+
Tweaked 900+
Minor Tweaks - 500+
(note evident overlaps in categories)
