Matthew Kim

Matthew Kim is a Korean American saxophonist and a music educator who currently lives in Massachusetts. He was born in Worcester MA, and is the son of Kyu Soo Kim and Sung Ok Kim who were both doctors. Matthew graduated from Worcester Academy, and recently graduated with a double major both in Music Education and Classics from the University of New Hampshire. He is currently studying a MM in saxophone at the Longy School of Music, which is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Matthew has studied with various woodwind teachers including: Jared Sims, David Seiler, Elizabeth Gunlogson, Stephanie Ratte, and Kenneth Radnofsky. He studied both saxophone and clarinet intensively at the University of New Hampshire, and played in many of the ensembles: Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and many small chamber ensembles including saxophone quartet. In 2007, Matthew performed with the National Wind Ensemble playing alto saxophone under the direction of H. Robert Reynolds. Currently at the Longy School of Music, Matthew played with a variety of chamber ensembles, and is currently studying with Kenneth Radnofsky.

Matthew enjoys all types of music, and is especially interested in the classical and jazz genres of music.
