History
Normandie was founded in September 2013 by the singers Philip Strand and Johan Lindström, the two guitarists Joel Felix and Håkan Almbladh, as well as the bassist Stefan Timmerholm and drummer Jesper Malmberg. Just a few days after the band became official, the EP named after the band was released on September 16th [1] with four titles. The band tour around Scandinavia and play support for bands like Memphis May Fire [2], Heart In Hand [3] and Betraying The Martyrs [4]. After a while, Joel Felix decided to leave the band and was replaced by John-Filip Löfgren, who was an old band member of Jesper Malmberg old youth band Atmosfear. The band made its first Europe tour in February 2015 with the band All Faces Down [5], along with a tour in March 2015 with the band Imminence [6]. After these tours Johan Lindström and Stefan Timmerholm chose to leave the band.
After Johan Lindström left the band, who performed screamo vocals, the band decided to write music without screamo vocals. John-Filip Löfgren, who has previously played a guitar, started playing bass in the band.
Normandie released their first debut album Inguz on their own on February 19, 2016 [7]. Inguz, a Viking rune, symbolised the band's new direction after the departure of their screamer co-vocalist. The band honed-in on a groundbreaking rock sound and have since seen support from the Radio 1 Rock Show [8], Kerrang! [9] , Rock Sound [10], and more. The US independent record label inVogue Records [11] signed the group and put the album out 11 March the same year on the North American market. The album immediately made its way to the Billboard charts, #20 Alternative New Artists and #60 Top New Artists [12]. Between 15 and 31 July 2016, the group toured through several European countries and plays at several music festivals, including Bochum Total, Rock den See, and the Trebur Open Air [13]. Bassist John Löfgren made his last appearance at Rock Den North 2016.
The former member Stefan Timmerholm joined the band as a stand in basist for upcoming tours and festivals [14]. June 2017 Normandie played Download Festival [15] among with other artists like Biffy Clyro, System Of A Down, Aerosmith and many more. In December 2016, the band played main support for the band Yellowcard on their farewell tour [16]. After the tour, Lucas Englund joined the band as the new basist player. One year later in December 2017, they did a co-headline tour with the singer in Yellowcard, Ryan Key [17].
In early April 2018, the group announced that it had been contracted on Easy Life Records [18] and going to release their second album 2018 [19]. Also, the debut album Inguz was re-released with additional material [20].
