Mande Allan Benjamin

Mande Allan Benjamin is a Ugandan competitive chess player, software engineer, and sports administrator. He currently serves as the Deputy President of the Uganda Chess Federation (UCF), a role he was elected to in November 2025. A prominent figure in the Ugandan chess circuit, he represents the Kireka Chess Club and has represented Uganda at the continental level.

Early Life and Education

Mande was born in Uganda in 1993. He attended Busoga College Mwiri, one of Uganda's most prestigious schools with a deep-seated tradition in chess and leadership. During his time at Mwiri, he served as the Speaker of the Student's Council, a key leadership position that marked the beginning of his involvement in administration and public service.

He later enrolled at Makerere University, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (admitted in 2012).

National Success

Mande is a long-standing member of the Kireka Chess Club. His career is marked by a reputation for tactical resilience and aggressive rapid play.

International Representation

In 2019, Mande was selected to the national team to represent Uganda at the African Individual Chess Championship held in Tunisia. Competing in the Open section, he secured significant results.

Leadership and Administration

On November 30, 2025, Mande was elected Deputy President of the Uganda Chess Federation (UCF). Running on a platform focused on welfare and professionalizing the sport.
