- Has large territory which overlas with others - Seen in early morn/late noon - Don't like extreme weather - Shelters under rock and in caves - Lives in woodlands, forests, shrublands, other animal burrows
Droppings: - 7cm - Cylindrical - Broken and unrounded - made up of dirt and ant hill material
Reproduction: - Never seen ejaculate - Breed from end of June to early sept - Use train system, youngest last, Female First - Switches lines - Don't like to mate when in captivity - When forced to be aroused, penis will swell and no longer fit in female - leave burrow after 12 m /1 yr
Diet: - Ants, termits - Uses claws to break hills and dig up dirt
Threats: - Wild cats, Domestic dogs, goannas, foxes - Snakes eat young from burrows - shy creatures, will turn into spiked ball when threatened
Ways to protect them: - Don't pick them up - Keep earth clean - Plant Plants - Watch pets - Call if you see injured echidna
