STEVE TYLER biography

As a widely respected actor with a versatile onscreen demeanor, Steve Tyler has been cast as the quintessential straight man by the Farrelly Brothers in more of their films than any other actor in Hollywood. He can be seen in King Pin, Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal, Stuck on You and most recently The Three Stooges. Other film roles include Boy's Life 3, written and directed by Jason Gould, and A River Made to Drown In - starring Richard Chamberlin and Michael Imperioli. In 2000, he starred as Matthew Haines in [Journey of Jared Price] -a coming-of-age film- written, produced and directed by Academy Award winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk). Julliard trained, Tyler has recurred in such popular television series as [Desperate Housewives], Days of Our Lives and Santa Barbara.

Tyler started his career modeling; his stint as the KOOL cigarette man, in the worldwide campaign, quickly defined his jocular charisma & wide-range appeal in the commercial marketplace. He has been seen in over 225 National and Regional Television & Print Campaigns - pitching everything from Allstate & American Airlines to Zyrtec, Toyota and Petco - in both the United States and Latin markets. His ease in front of the camera also landed him a co-hosting stint on P.M. Magazine

As well known off screen as he is on, Tyler was the national spokesman for Big Brothers of America for 5 years and spent 22 years as the national spokesman for Jewish Big Brothers of America. A tireless advocate, volunteer and fundraiser for at -risk youth, animal welfare causes and LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) issues, Tyler was appointed to the California Council for the Humanities. Using his status as an established actor/activist, with over 40 theatrical productions to his credit, he has produced theatrical fundraisers that include: Ellen DeGeneres LIVE In Concert, The Ellen DeGeneres Show benefit and Star-studded staged readings of Boys in the Band and Valley of the Dolls. Tyler is also the co-founder of Los Angeles Playwright's Arena, a celebrated non-profit theatre company that has been the recipient of numerous Dramalogue awards for its original productions - many of which have gone on to premiere to critical acclaim off-Broadway.

Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, and now a resident of Los Angeles, Tyler continues to be an effective force in philanthropic and political arenas. He has served as a board member and has produced and chaired over 150 events and fundraisers in the State of California for some of the most distinguished political candidates and human rights organizations in the U.S. His personal philanthropy and record-setting fundraising efforts have made him one of the top fundraisers in Los Angeles and the State of California. He proudly champions causes that support equality and human rights.

Tyler's enthusiasm and dedication is mirrored in his work ethic in front of the camera, as well. His versatility and professionalism are well known in the industry and he is always prepared to take on the challenge of a new role.
