Desa who was schooled in Soul, Funk & Disco, started collecting records at the age of 14 from artists such as The Commodores, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Isley Brothers, etc ... With an eclectic taste in music, he embraced the 80's electronic, rare groove & hip hop movements, and in the process started up the first club night on Merseyside to regularly play "House Music" called The Defhouse. This night ran for 2 years and artists such as Soul ll Soul & Robert Owens played there during that time, to a regular audience of 500+! The huge success of this, led to Desa opening his own underground 'acid house' club called The Bassment a year later. He then ventured into recording and remixing music, in the process creating the classic house anthem by Bassheads "Is There Anybody Out There" a seminal house anthem that has continued to stand the test of time. With numerous dee-jaying, TV and festival appearances under his belt, he now does a weekly 2 hour radio show called "Universal Rhythms" where he delves into his personal collection of music. You can expect to hear underground and classic soul, funk & disco music in the tradition of The Loft & Paradise Garage fused with his own personal reworks & re-edits with a sprinkling of deep & soulful house grooves. Desa is particularly interested in doing a 7 hours of 7" vinyl night, where he will mini blend tracks in a Loft style from his personal collection of over 3000 7" vinyl singles.
