Ketan Tirodkar has been a journalist since 1995. His first report was published in the Metropolis on Saturday; a supplement of The Times of India in June 1995. The topic was the contract-killing by some police officers from the 1980s till mid-1990s. With this article he switched over from sales/marketing to journalism and got employed as a crime reporter for an English eveninger Afternoon. Here he wrote on crimes for around a year covering special stories on narcotics trafficking, 1993-serial blasts etc. He was then posted in the Priya Tendulkar Talk Show in 1997 where he had opportunity to arrange Talk Shows on a variety of topics such as Cricket Betting, White Collar Crimes and so on. During his stint with Afternoon and the Priya Talk Show, he had opportunity to work for the common aim with some police officers of Mumbai Police such as his collge-time friend Vijay Salaskar. Once, it so happened that the Bombay High Court had ordered to acquit underworld don Arun Gawli from the National Security Act detention and imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000 upon the then Police Commissioner and a few others for having acted with malafied intention. The then Police Commissioner Mr. Subhash Malhotra told Ketan Tirodkar that he had acquired an intercepted telephone conversation between Arun Gawli and his wife in which the Don had revealed the entire gist of the High Court verdict ahead of its declaration. The police commissioner claimed that he had flown to Nagpur on the day of judgement and had played the tape to the Judges in the chamber beofore the delievery of the judgement. However, the Judges rendered the same judgement. Ketan shared this with his friend Vijay Slaskar and a strategy was hatched to sabotage the Gawli gang and its judicial network. [The account of events has been taken from the statement recorded by Dy. Superintendent of Police of Thane Rural, in August,1998 at the Vasai office of the Sub-divisional Police Officer.

[Remaining portion to be relayed later] Presently; this former journalist is contesting a series of public interest litigations in-person on a variety of topics; such as awarding of Ashok Chakras to some more officers of who fought a real battle; multiple allotment of houses from the Chief Minister quota to some privileged families; Tata's successor Cyrus Mistry paying hundreds of crores to a government officer for a redevelopment project of 154 buildings; etc. Despite all odds; ranging from financial deficit to risk to life; he is continuing his stint with social venture.
