Kenroy Baptiste is a television news anchor on the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) and the founder/executive producer/managing editor/lead broadcaster of his media productions entity Spice Productions. He was born in Grenada on June 21, 1983, to Lillan and Winifred Baptiste. He is a christian, the last of seven siblings and the brother of former national goalkeeper Kellon Baptiste. He was educated at St. George's Anglican Junior and Senior Schools, Grenada Boys' Secondary School (G.B.S.S.) and T.A. Marryshow Community College (T.A.M.C.C) where he pursued English, Public Affairs, Sociology, Journalism and Public Relations. He is to pursue a Master of Journalism at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, in September 2009, after which he intends to pursue a PhD in Communication. He was once head prefect of the G.B.S.S. and president of the school's Young Leaders' program. He was also vice president of Human Resources at Junior Achievement of Grenada and public relations officer of the National Youth Council alongside its then president Emmalin Pierre, who is now Grenada's Minister for Youth and a senator. In addition, Kenroy has represented Grenada at several regional and international youth summits and is very passionate about youth empowerment and activism. He entered the broadcast media in 1995 whilst at the G.B.S.S and has since gained extensive experience in live programming, including outside broadcasts of live national events. He performs multiple roles in radio and television as marketing professional, researcher, writer, editor, producer and presenter. He is best known for his ad libs, tonal quality, flamboyant on-air delivery, eloquence, striking interviewing style and ability to romance the camera using bodily gestures. He first came to GBN in 2004 on an offer from former marketing and programme manager, Eugene Gittens. A contract to broadcast Spice Magazine, formerly Spice Classifieds, was signed between GBN and Spice productions - which also produces Managing Your Health on GBN's Klassic Radio AM 540/klassicgrenada.com. Since coming to GBN, he has hosted Focus and To The Point - the network's flagship radio talkshows. He occasionally anchors the Luncheon and Evening Editions of news live as well as the 10 0' clock news update on GBN's Klassic Radio AM 540/klassicgrenada.com. It was Victoria Hughes, a former General Manager of GBN, who offered Kenroy a contract to anchor GBN TV News three days per week. However, from time to time he anchors additional days when his colleague anchor Leslie-ann Johnson is on assignment/vacation. Prior to GBN, he was a news anchor/reporter at Meaningful Television (MTV) as well as at Newsbreak - a production of the Caribupdate News Service, based in Miami, Florida, and owned and operated by Grenadian-born journalist Hamlet Mark. Kenroy, Sandra Pierre, Ria Delves and Kellon Bubb were co-hosts of the popular Teen Upbeat show on Community Channel 6, which was produced by the American-born Ellamae Jackson. He is a recipient of an award for marvelous talent and strides as a television news anchor, presented by the Media Workers' Association of Grenada (MWAG) in 2007. Kenroy is the voice of radio and television commercials, public service advertising and features and is the chairman of the Kenroy Baptiste Organization for the Poor and Needy. He is single and lives in the Grenadian capital. He enjoys badmington, walking, cycling, swimming, travelling and listening to gospel and other uplifting/inspiring music. He intends on working in America's broadcasting industry, including the news media.
