Louis I de Beauvau (1409 - † 1462), lord of Beauvau and of Sermaise in Anjou, was the first son of Pierre de Beauvau,[1] and Jeanne de Craon, daughter of Pierre de Craon. Faithful servant of House d'Anjou-Valois and close friend of René I of Anjou.

His campaigns

Following in the footstep of his father Pierre I, Louis enters the service of Louis II of Anjou in Italy. It was there that he became a great connoisseur of the language and he played the role of ambassador to René d'Anjou.

In 1431, Louis is appointed, by Duke René, governor of Lorraine at 22 with the mission of eradicating ??routiers écorcheurs??. He masters the situation in a year and a half and brings peace to the region. Following this success, he was appointed Seneschal of Anjou and then Grand Seneschal of Provence. As an envoy of Duke Rene and the Angevins, Louis traveled from the French court to Florence, negotiating with Piero de Pazzi.[2] The bulk of Rene's money and contacts existed in this city.[2]

In 1442, Louis was fighting against the English under the command of the Duke of Alencon. Accompanied by René and Charles VII he freed La Rochelle and then Bordeaux(1451).
