Spinosaurus teeth

S.aegyptiacus tooth from Tegana Formation

With no doubt Spinosaurus is one of the rarest dinosaurs on earth. First its fossils were found in Baharia oasis in Egypt. Later these remains were destroyed in World War Two.

Next its remains were unearthed in Morocco[1], and Tunisia[2].

Teeth

Most of Spinosaurus teeth are found in Tegana Formation and Kem-Kem Beds in Morocco. These teeth belong to two species: S.moroccanus and S. aegyptiacus.

Teeth of S.aegyptiacus are usually long and different from the teeth of carnosaurs. They are more like teeth of T.rex, but not serrated and not as strong. They were used to:

  • Grab
  • Fish
