Fallen Marine Jenifer Parcel

Jennifer Marie Parcell (June 27, 1986 - February 7, 2007) was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps who was killed in action while serving with Combat Logistics Battalion 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Jennifer Parcell was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from Bel Air, Maryland. In early 2007, she was serving with Combat Logistics Battalion 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq. On February 7, 2007, Corporal Parcell was conducting female searches as part of the Lioness Program, which provides female Marines for searches of Iraqi women to respect Muslim cultural morals. While conducting searches in Barwana, Iraq a woman she was searching blew herself up with a suicide vest. Cpl Parcell took the blunt of the blast and upon evaluation was pronounced dead on site.

In 2007, shortly after Cpl Parcell's death, NBC's Brian Williams weighed in on his nightly television show, "Nightly News," about the state of affairs in the United States of America when a woman such as Anna Nicole Smith, who died the same day as Cpl Parcell, received national exposure over a woman who gave the ultimate sacrifice, her life for her country.

In 2011 the women's side of the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference (DVCHC) named one of their divisons in Cpl Parcell's honor. The 'Jennifer Parcell Memorial Division' is made up of college ice hockey teams that play in the region where Cpl Parcell grew up & dedicate each season to her family and her memory.
