(Backstory)
Jacob Grehl was born in a small South Floridian town, Plantation. His parents are Ranae and Micheal Grehl, who both introduced him to Classic Rock and Country music at very young age. Jacob spent his early childhood playing football and lacrosse, and uniquely, studying American history. Jacob has stated in the past that he seeks to be a History professor at the end of his working career. Jacob stated that the inspiration of his calm, and sad like music came from his experience with an ex in high school. “She was my first love, yeah that same old story everyone has, but I genuinely loved her, but she felt differently and moved on without letting me know, if you get what I’m hinting at”. Jacob was a talented high school football player, and actually racked up 7 scholarship offers to play college football. at this moment, he is committed to play football at the University Of Puget Sound. We asked Jacob if he plans to continue his music while in college to which he responded, “I have found something that brings joy into my life, something that brings people into my life, something that I have admired and thought was unattainable, why would I give it up for a scam such as college”. Jacob started making “music” so called, when he was a freshman in high school, “I made silly diss tracks about my best friends for a laugh, and I actually enjoyed recording and mixing them, never did I think that would start my music career” Jacob attempted to make an album in his freshman year called “Light Of Humanity”, but unfortunately, according to Jacob, “it was so trash, I knew what good music sounded like even back then, I knew it couldn’t ever be released”. Jacob has always been hard on himself and his music, “I don’t know what it is, even if it sounds good to me, I still don’t think the listener will hear it the same way I do, and so I scrap it or change it”. Jacob made music for himself and himself only all the way until his senior year, when he met a girl who finally convinced him to release his music. “Her name is Erin, I showed her my music and she loved it, she genuinely loved it, it almost brought tears to my eyes to see someone bobbing their head to music that I made”. Jacob then began working on his first project album “Above” which he made in the span of 2 weeks. “I wrote, recorded, and mixed the whole album in 13 days. The only thing I did was go to school and make music for 13 days straight, until I finally finished the album”. Jacob submitted his 6 song album to amuse, a music service that puts new artists on exclusive stores like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Google Music. “They accepted my submission within 2 days, and I even got a call from a representative at amuse, saying they loved my sound and look forward to my release, I’m pretty sure they may say that to everyone they accept, but who cares”.
(Music)
Jacob Grehl released his debut album “above” which showcased songs Fade Away, My Life, Heartbroken Soul, Time (By The Ocean), and Solo. “The Intro, Fade Away, Heartbroken Soul, Time (By The Ocean), and Solo, were all recorded within those 13 days, but My Life, was an old song I recorded my junior year, when I was making music exclusively for myself. I found the sound file accidentally while looking for an old guitar sample, and I forgot how good it was. I immediately touched it up And mixed it, and put it in the album”.
