Jocelyn A. Cooper

Jocelyn A. Cooper is an American entrepreneur, music publisher, and music industry executive. She is a partner in LETS get FR.EE, a purpose-driven platform and festival for a multicultural audience. Cooper is a partner in the AFROPUNK [1]. Cooper is regarded as an influential female in the history of the music business[2][3][4][5][6].

Life and Career

Cooper was born in Brooklyn, New York to African-American activist parents Jocelyn C. Cooper[7] and Andrew W. Cooper[8][9][10][11] Jocelyn C. Cooper was a social worker, political activist, and pioneer who helped launch the campaign that created the Congressional district won by Shirley Chisolm. Andrew W. Cooper was an African-American activist during the Civil Rights Movement, businessman, and journalist and publisher of the City Sun newspaper.

Jocelyn A. Cooper is a graduate of Hampton University[12][13].

She began her career in the music industry as a music publisher. Cooper has previously held senior positions at Wanner Chappell Music, Midnight Songs[14], Polygram Records, joint venture company Universal Music Group, and Universal Records, and LA Reid's Hitco Music Publishing.

Over the course of her career, she has worked with and signed songwriters and music artists like D'angelo, Rachel Saadiq, Angie Stone, Eddie F, and Nelly. She has worked with Cash Money Records who work with Lil Wayne, Juvenile, BG, Nicki Manaj, and Drake. Cooper has also worked with Teddy Riley's co-writer, Bernard Bell, Hitco's Sean Garnett, and Beyonce. Cooper has executively produce the soundtracks for the films Baby Boy, American Pie, and The Kings of Comedy.

Cooper is a partner in LETS get FR.EE, a purpose-driven and festival for a multicultural audience. AFROPUNK is a digital platform for alternative Black culture with global festivals in the United States, France, South Africa, UK, and Brazil (2020 BlackList 100 recipient for turning community into commerce) and (Multiply Creative LLC (Creative Agency)[15].
