Provenance
Formation
Tanimura from Momoyama Gakuin University, who was the leader of the Osaka folk group "Rock Candies" on the 1970 American concert tour, and Soul [[Band] in Tokyo. (Music) | Band]] Yazawa, who was guest drummer of "Brown Rice", got acquainted with each other. When they return to Japan, they promise to form a group together as Pro. The origin of the band name is the name of the restaurant that was open in Los Angeles at that time, and the menu says "Alice" in pen letters, "I think this logo is cool. If you want to be a pro, I want to name the band Alice. Because I thought.
After returning to Japan, Tanimura was acquainted with the same Kobe music circle, Port Jubilee, Amateur Rock Band "Furish Brotherhood. In Vocal, Horiuchi from Kyoto Sangyo University was invited to Group.
December 25, 1971, in Tanimura and Horiuchi, Osaka City Minami Ward Minami Sumiyacho (currently Chuo Ward [[Nishishinsaibashi] ] In a room of Business Hotel / Osaka Teikoku Hotel in 2-chome), "Alice" was formed on the assumption that Yazawa would join. The following day, March 5, 1972, single "run, come on, lover" debut. From the performance at the Nara Civic Center held on May 5th of the same year, Yazawa officially joined and became Alice today.
From underlaying to central existence
At the time of his professional debut, he was not blessed with hits, and as an instrument that could be carried by a total of four people, three members and manager, Yazawa was originally a drummer, but he could carry it as baggage conga. I had it, and every day I spent all my time on tours and live performances with two folk guitar by Tanimura and Horiuchi.
However, he increased his potential fans by doing a steady tour activity that said, "I almost went to the city's civic center where limited express stops" (Tanimura). In 1974, there was an unreasonable record of 303 stages a year. It is said that there was also a deficit tour borne by the transportation expenses office side, which was only for the purpose of improving the name recognition. In the previous year, Ken Hosokawa, the president of his agency Young Japan, decided to perform in Japan, which was unknown in Japan at that time, and made a huge deficit. There is an anecdote that he made such an unreasonable tour to repay his debt because he carried it on his back.
The result of the tour, DJ of Tanimura's "MBS Young Town" and Nippon Cultural Broadcasting "Say! Young, and famous in the Kansai College Folk world Ritsumeikan University and Doshisha University OB trio Woody Wu's "Now nobody" Cover hit, the original song " Days that never return "Winter lightning bolt" "Oath of tears" "Johnny's song" "[Champion (song) "Champion]]" "Autumn Stop" " Crazy Fruit" and other hit songs were fired in rapid succession.
In 1978, he was the first Japanese artist to successfully perform Nippon Budokan for three days, creating an era. After that, he performed many times at Nippon Budokan until the activity stopped, and also Korakuen Stadium (at that time, the current Tokyo Dome), Koshien Stadium, Yokohama Stadium [[ Alice has gained so many fans that it fills up all the major music halls in Japan such as [Baseball Stadium]], Tokyo Kosei Nenkin Kaikan Large Hall, and Osaka Festival Hall. It was. The Budokan concert was broadcast live by the moderator of Bamba Hirofumi, who was Tanimura's partner in the Nippon Cultural Broadcasting " Peppermint Street Seishun Odori". In Alice's live record " Escape to Glory" and " Endless Challenge" Contains a message to Listener listening to Radio.
In 1979, provided "Beautiful Bonds ~ Hand in Hand ~" as the theme song for the fund-raising event "Hand in Hand 100 Yen Coin Great March" of UNICEF. In addition, he himself participated in fund-raising activities on the street. The "Hand in Hand 100-yen coin march" called for a one-hour fund-raising activity from 1:00 pm on December 31, but mobilized about 73,000 people nationwide. After that, Tanimura advocated the "Theater Friends" project, which aims to build a music hall through fund-raising activities by music fans. However, it was frustrated due to various reasons. Only the recorded movie "ALICE THE MOVIE Beautiful Bonds" (produced by Toho and directed by Takashi Tsuboshima) was released. Instead of Nippon Broadcasting, there was a regular program about this "Hand in Hand" every Saturday night for a short period of time. It ends in </ ref>.
Inactivity
However, as Tanimura and Horiuchi's solo activities became more active, the difference in the direction of music became apparent, and on May 21, 1981, Alice's activities were suspended. After the last national tour including the Overseas tour of Beijing, Hong Kong, Bangkok, the last live at Korakuen Stadium on November 7, 1981. "Alice Final" was held and the activity was suspended.
Horiuchi said, " Chimpei-san has a feeling of inferiority complex" about the true reason for the suspension of activities when he made a complete restart later and appeared on TV as Alice. This is Alice <ref group = "comment"> released in December 1978, the main singer, lyrics and composition in the group of the biggest hit song "Champion" </ ref> and Shinji Tanimura solo <ref group = "comment" > In 1980, the solo singer, songwriting, and composition of " Subaru-", which is the representative song of Tanimura's solo, was provided to others <ref group. = "Note"> Released about two weeks before "Champion", the lyrics of "Good Day Departure", which became the representative song of Momoe Yamaguchi and has been sung by many singers including Tanimura himself.・ Composing </ ref> and demonstrating his talents, he made hits in each form, and the timings almost overlapped. Therefore, Horiuchi told Tanimura the intention to suspend the activity through Tanimura, and both Tanimura and Yazawa accepted it, resulting in the suspension of activity. However, at this time, Tanimura told Horiuchi that "Alice is not a place to escape in difficult times" and "(if you stop the activity) you will not be able to return to Alice so easily." In fact, after a temporary restart from 1987 to 1988, in the 1990s they devoted themselves to each other's solo activities and never restarted. It was restarted after the participation in 51st NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen was decided in 2000.
Horiuchi practically turned to Enka and Kayokyoku for solo activities. Tanimura suspended his solo activities and became Shanghai Music Academy Professor in China, and later resumed his solo activities. Yazawa was also a member of the music group "BLEND" <ref group = "annotation"> Shiro Sagisu. </ ref> After participating, he stopped his musical activities and runs a restaurant centered on Kushiyaki in Roppongi and a Guitar shop in Jimbocho.
Restart
After the 1981 outage, Alice completely restarted in 2009 after three limited restarts.
- The first restart in 1987 ended with the announcement of the album "ALICE X" and the single " BURAI", and a few broadcast appearances.
- The second restart was due to the increased momentum of the restart triggered by the holding of the Hanshin-Awaji Great Earthquake memorial concert on January 17, 2000 Kobe. In addition, a national tour was held from summer to autumn, and Nippon Budokan was full again.
- The third restart was on December 31, 2005 56th NHK Red and White Song Battle.
Complete restart and subsequent activities
- Tanimura's best compilation album "Ongaeshi" released on March 19, 2008 includes " Anthem for Tomorrow" with Horiuchi. Yazawa also participated in the recording, which increased the momentum for restarting. On March 4, 2009, a press conference was held at the "Ueno Cultural Center Large Hall", and at this time when the three of them reached 60th birthday, they announced a "complete restart for the first time in 28 years". From July to November of the same year, it was announced that a national tour will be held at 33 venues for a total of 35 performances. Including the additional performances decided after that, 40 performances at 36 venues are finally held. Episode
Tanimura and Horiuchi are mainly in charge of vocals, but <ref group = "comment"> Yazawa also sings in album songs. </ ref>, the lead vocals were neither (twin vocals), and both were on an equal footing. <Ref group = "Note"> If Tanimura composed, Tanimura, if Horiuchi, Horiuchi. There were many patterns that acted as lead vocals. However, in the case of Tanimura's composition such as the representative song "Champion", they often sing together. It was a long time when it wasn't squealing and flying, but it was a hit by covering "Now nobody" sung by Woody Wu, and it was a big hit with "Winter Lightning" [[Break] ], And it came to be regarded as one of the central figures in the new music world, which was in its infancy at that time. However, due to the size of the head, when he appeared on the local station Radio, he said, "I'm Alice, the group that's been talked about now." Tanimura talk including) was introduced.
At the beginning of the unnamed activity, both himself and others were in a position to be classified in the folk song genre, but in terms of the addition of drums, he aimed to differentiate himself from musicians of the same period. After the break with "Winter Lightning", he developed his own world without being bound by the frame of the fork and gradually gained fans. The tune gradually became more rock-oriented, and the backing musicians also became a full-fledged band organization with electric guitars, synthesizers, etc., and developed flashy stage activities.
In this way, Alice was completely out of the frame of the folk singer's line at the time of formation, but returned to the origin at the pause live in 1981, playing with only three people without chorus or backing musician. rice field.
During his heyday, he did not participate in "NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen". This is because Alice applied for the program audition of NHK but was rejected, so she said, "I refused it as a will."
When she went to Mexico for an overseas performance, she performed at a festival concert with 70,000 spectators with the frekomi "The best-selling artist in Japan". Although she played, the audience calmed down, and when she ran around screaming "Amigo!" And "Viva!"
