You've reached Ian's temporary home page....
(It will probably be temporary for quite a while. "Temporary" is quite an elastic idea.)
Casual editor
A casual editor is a type of editor who works on Wikipedia articles. They are typically readers in search of information, but find some error of fact or language that needs adjustment. They have no intention to become Wiki editors per se. This is how most Wiki editors start off. After a few casual edits they often create an account and fate decides what happens next.
Content editor
A content editor is a type of editor who works on Wikipedia articles. They typically have interest in the topics they work on. This could be due to personal or scholarly interest. They are usually responsible for the material that Wiki readers want to access. A content editor could at the same time be a crusader or a page owner.
Crusader
A crusader is a type of editor who works on Wikipedia articles. They typically have an ideological stance that dictates their editing. That stance could be political, nationalist, religious or even fan-based. Their major interest is to infuse as many articles as possible with their ideologies.
Edit cowboy
An edit cowboy, also known as an "edit jockey", is a type of editor who works on Wikipedia articles. They are known for their behavior. They are usually prolific editors of vast ranges of topics and articles. They have no intrinsic interest in the topics they edit. Their changes are frequently cosmetic, applying Wiki guidelines as they interpret them to be law. Because of the righteousness involved in applying Wikilaws, they truck no resistence to their application of it. Anyone who does not accept their policing of the Wikilaw will irresistably feel the weight of it.
Page owner
A page owner is a type of editor who works on Wikipedia articles. They typically work on select pages and give the impression they own the topics. Any edits that others make are unacceptable to the page owner.
Wiki bee
A Wiki bee is a type of editor who works on Wikipedia articles. They typically get involved with the management of facets of Wikipedia, helping decide policies, carrying out routine modifications, helping to develop software features, or troubleshooting when problems arise, either technical or interpersonal.
Wiki vandal
A Wiki vandal is a type of editor who works on Wikipedia articles. They typically do not register as editors with Wiki and are usually known only by their IP address. They edit Wiki pages for fun and effect, often inserting trivial, silly, or rude content because they can. Unlike the casual editor, the Wiki vandal has no intrinsic interest in the articles they work on.
