Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauff Mohammad Ziaul Hasan

Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauff Mohammad Ziaul Hasan (born 24 December 1980) is a Sri Lankan agricultural economist, livestock specialist, and academic, recognized for his contributions to sustainable agricultural development and animal science. He has received multiple international honors for his work in agricultural innovation and livestock management.

Early Life and Education

Hasan was born on 24 December 1980 in Maskeliya, Sri Lanka. He pursued his primary and secondary education at Maskeliya Muslim Vidyalayam, St. Mary’s College, Bogawantalawa, and Al Humaisara National College, China Fort, Beruwala.

He later continued his higher studies at the Open University of Sri Lanka and Anna University, Chennai, India. Hasan obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Agricultural Economics and Animal Science from Logos University, United States of America.

Career

Prof. Hasan has been actively involved in promoting modern agricultural and livestock practices in Sri Lanka and abroad. Family Background

Prof. Hasan descends from a prominent Kandyan family of Kadugannawa Walavuwa, which converted to Islam in the early 1900s. The family established itself in business and education. His mother, Mrs. S. Fouzia A. Rauff, is a Grade 1 principal, while his father, Mr. M. B. Abdul Rauff, is a respected businessman.

He has three brothers and one sister. Hasan is married to Mrs. F. Fazniya Ziaul Hasan, and the couple has two children — M. Ziaul Hamdi Al Malik and F. Fazia Al Manal.
