Questions when determining a naming convention for churches within a given country:
- Which language?
- If in English, "St." (North American) or "St" (British and Commonwealth)? This should be determined by the variety of English in which the article is written.
- Include the denomination's name? Should some be included and others not?
- Disambiguation should be by location first rather than by denomination – e.g., St. Agnes Episcopal Church is a poor way to do it – as there may be other churches of the same dedication and denomination.
- Comma or parenthetical disambiguation?
"St" in Commonwealth English
- 2013 South African government style guide, p. 24
- I couldn't see anything equivalent in the equivalents for Australia and New Zealand, other than general guidance not to use full stops in abbreviations.
