Biography[edit]

Early life

Leela grew up in the Northwest Territories in a culture that emphasized the power of the Dené and their rights to the land. She has a brother (Jay) and a sister (Carla). Her father played the trombone and worked as a music teacher at the local school in Yellowknife. She played her first eh Yellowknife Folk on the Rocks Festival when she was eight years old.
