A Chief Web Architect (CWA) is the highest-ranking corporate officer (executive) in charge of an organisation's Web presence, including all internet and intranet sites. The CWA typically reports to the CTO. A CWA will generally has the following skills:
- Modern web design patterns, UI and UX tendencies
- Common practices in architectural design and development of Web Software
- Newest technologies, advantages and disadvantages of each
- Decision making for upgrades / rewrites and technology choices
Among other, a CWA must be able to review and grade quality of
- HTML and CSS
- Client-side languages like Javascript and various frameworks like AngularJS, jQuery etc
- Server-side languages like ASP.NET, PHP etc
- Structured query languages for RDBMSes like SQL Server, MySQL etc
