Gary Myors lives in Tasmanian and is married with two daughters. He grew up in Queensland during the 50’s & early 60’s until joining the Royal Australian Navy in 1965 at the age of 15. Trained as a Naval Shipwright at the RAN Apprentices Training Establishment HMAS Nirimba before serving aboard HMAS Sydney on deployments to Vietnam in 1969 & 1970. Gary left the Navy in 1973 to follow his passion for adventure spending 30 years as a skydiving Instructor doing more than 3000 jumps. He received the Active Service, Logistics and Support and Military medals, and the return from Active Service Badge some years after his discharge.

During his skydiving career he represented Australia Internationally in a competitive and technical capacity. He served the Australian Parachute Federation as the Director of Instructor 1991 to 1998 and as the Director of Safety 1998 to 2000. An unfortunate knee injury force his retirement from active skydiving in 2000 at which time he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his service to the sport.

From his early childhood he had also a passion for the ocean becoming a certified diver in the late 60’s Although diving took a back seat to jumping from anything that flew he spent 40 years as a diver logging more than 5000 hrs underwater most of which was done in the clear temperate waters of Tasmania. His diving career included the development, operating and marketing of the world famous Eaglehawk Dive Centre on Tasmania’s Tasman Peninsula and 15 years as a commercial and Abalone diver. Gary and his business partners specialised in attracting photographers and film crews from throughout the world to visit Tasmania to film the unique and rare variety of marine creatures that call Tasmania home. Expeditions to the wild south west and Bass Strait Islands have been the subject of many national and international documentaries and well know magazine articles. Another injury resulted in the curtailing of another passion after crashing a motorbike in 2008. More than 12 months rehabilitation will see Gary return to the ocean but only for pleasure.

A keen motorcyclist since the early 70’s in recent years Gary with wife Pat has developed the desire to combine his photographic, motorcycling and travelling into a small business leading tours to unusual places or writing travel stories, books and magazine articles about their adventures. Having travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, USA, the Pacific and Australia. Gary sees each day as the beginning of another adventure and looks forward to sharing them with you through his range of books published on www.blurb.com
