Roberta Kray (born 1959) is a British writer crime fiction novels.

Biography

Roberta was born in [Southport], England. In her early career she worked in publishing and media research in London for fifteen years. In early 1996 she met [Reggie Kray] and they married the following year. Her first book, "A Man Apart", was a biography of her husband. Through her marriage to Reggie, Roberta has a unique insight into the inner conflicts of a long-term prisoner. She lives in [Norfolk]. ref 1

As the widow of Reggie Kray, one of the most notorious gangsters in the world, Roberta Kray uses her knowledge of the criminal underworld, to create a successful career as a crime novelist. Roberta has to date published nine fiction titles.

[The Kray twins], Ronnie and Reggie, ruled 1960s London with a brutal combination of violence, protection rackets and murder. They were jailed for life in 1969 for killing two other gangsters. Ronnie was declared criminally insane and committed to Broadmoor where he died in 1995, aged 62. The following year, Reggie met Roberta, an English graduate, then 36 years old. He was still in prison and making a film about his late brother. A friend of Roberta had offered to help out with publicity, but had to pull out and asked Roberta if she'd do it.ref 2 Roberta remained married to Reggie until his death in 2000 of bladder cancer. ref 4
