HCPM, the Highly Configurable Personal Millicomputer
HCPM is a fully programmable milliwatt computer. It is 10x10x3 cm slab built around an ICE40 FPGA, 9 LEDs, one Thunderbolt connector, and a fully open source software stack. The most innovative feature is the "Goldiware" programming environment, which seamlessly supports programming both hardware and software (eg, via RISC-V soft cores). This is done via Homoiconic C, a novel data format which can compile to Verilog or RISC-V assembly, or be executed directly on node.js.
HCPM (a nod to the CP/M machines of yore) is designed to provide students and hackers direct experience with every layer of modern computer architectures, without the artificial complexity of traditional languages and operating systems.
It is currently scheduled to be launched via Kickstarter in April 2021. We are actively seeking collaborators and patrons. Please join us at [email protected].
