User:Devil Master
My nickname on Wikipedia (as well as on a number of forums and on Usenet) is Devil Master. I have been using it since 1998. If anyone wants to know why: I started posting in newsgroups in late 1997, and I used my real name and email address. I soon started receiving lots of spam and realized posting with real personal data was a no-no. Momentarily, I started posting with a very blasphemous nickname and fake email address as a way to let people know not to email me, but this triggered complaints from other posters, so I "mildened" the nickname to Devil Master.
I am a programmer, and I have worked for an industrial automation company for 4 years. My interests include:
- Virtual reality
- Video games
- Emulators (but I'm not a nostalgic: I'm interested in emulators because they allow me to discover things of the past I didn't know and some of them can even exceed the performance of the original platform. Plus, it's just practical to run my whole collection of games on a single machine.)
- Level editing
- Computer programming
- Robotics
- Listening to and making parody music
- Atheism
I despise intrusive digital rights management (i.e. planting malware on one's computer, allowing a limited amount of installations or invading the users' privacy every time they use a program) because I see it as an instigation to piracy (pirates have none of these problems). I use free and open source software whenever possible, but I still use Windows because it is the only operating system with video drivers that allow video games and 3D programs I make myself to be displayed in stereoscopy.
I am the author of Hi65, the open-source high-level Commodore 65 emulator.
