Annetta Laufer is a British filmmaker known for directing the Doctor Who special Eve of the Daleks. Laufer has also worked on other films like the musical crime drama Blue Story.

Life

Annetta Laufer is Jamaican-German and was born in the United Kingdom. Laufer grew up in Germany but spent a significant amount of time in Jamaica during the summer.[1]

Career

Laufer founded Roman Candle Productions, a film production company, in order to make films featuring women of color who "were not relegated to mothers of drug lords or oppressed Asian women in saris". [2]

Laufer's short film "The Arrival" was featured in the 23rd American Black Film Festival under the Emerging Directors and Music in Motion Showcase.[3] Laufer was a script supervisor for Blue Story.[4] It was announced that Laufer would direct the Doctor Who special Eve of the Daleks on December 5, 2021.[5] It was broadcast on January 1, 2022.
