The Blackbird Rock Festival is amongst the first of a series of festivals that is being started by a group of young, passionate youngsters in the city of Calcutta (Kolkata) in India. This year, the inaugural attempt shall have a theme of Rock music, featuring the best of India's rock fraternity. The likes of The Superfuzz, Them Clones, Skinney Alley, Orange Street, Soulmate, The Hobos, Thermal And A Quarter and Prestorika shall be performing at the 2007 edition of Blackbird.
The 2-day festival, which is on the lines of Woodstock, shall allow camping on the grounds for its patrons and promote peace, brotherhood, creativity, Aids awareness and eco-friendliness. The date has been set for the 15th and 16th of December 2007, at the Nicco Park grounds in Calcutta.
