Dean Gilboy is a Drummer and Vocalist from Townsville, Australia based in Melbourne, Australia.
Career
After spending his high school years starting bands and projects Dean started a 3-piece rockabilly band in Townsville called “The Koffin Rockers” (now called The Vankeys) with guitarist Michael Hegarty, who he had worked with at a local music store, and bassist Shaun Butcher. After years of playing local, interstate, and international venues, he started going out on his own to become a freelance drummer, playing percussion and drums in local musicals, and playing drums for many other artists including Jade Holland, Homegrown, Tammy Moxon, Ron Sellars, The Wing Kings, and more. In Feburary 2020 after 24 hours notice he filled in for Melbourne band Area 7 after the bands former drummer was unable to make the dates. The 2 shows were in Cairns, and Townsville, Qld. In October 2020 Dean relocated to Melbourne to pursue his dream of music, something he had been wanted to do for a long time. He is now drumming for Area 7 after being hired from the 2 fill in shows.
