Introduction

Badging learning is an effective learning strategy where digital badges are used. These digital badges are online representation of any kind of skills or achievements that the learner has earned. To earn this badge, the learner has to pass an exam conducted online for the corresponding skill. The badge contains the information on the details of the learner and the new credentials earned. Once it was earned, it can be stored online and accessed by an online account. Such badges can be accessed everywhere and at any time through a mobile device.[1]

Functions

Even though the details on how to earn the badge differs from one grantor to another, there is only path for this purpose which is provided by Mozilla Open Badge Infrastructure (OBI) specification. And through this model, the learner can fulfill only the criteria specified by the particular issuer either by attending classes/passing exam/ completing activities. The record of the badge is then maintained with the learner's metadata. The badge recipients using Mozilla Badge Backpack can choose about keeping their awards private or display some or all of them on various websites or social networks. [2]

Goals

  • To make the students learn through use of technology.
  • To ensure that the learning happens not only with the theories but with the different skills.
  • To motivate students to score higher by awarding with badges.
  • To achieve a platform-agnostic state.
