History Tyler was founded in 1966 and operated as a holding company with operations in industrial, retail, and distribution businesses through 1997. In 1998, the company changed its name to Tyler Technologies, purportedly to reflect the growth strategy of serving the information management software needs of local governments. In 2011, Tyler acquired Windsor Management Group, L.L.C. (Windsor). In 2012, the company has acquired UniFund, L.L.C. and Computer Software Associates, Inc.
Tyler Technologies competes with Oracle Corporation[1], Lawson Software, SAP AG, Affiliated Computer Services, SunGard Data Systems, New World Systems, American Cadastre, LLC, Constellation Software, Manatron, and Deloitte LLP.
