Background:


My name is Maria Jonker. I am Dutch, but have lived in Dalyan (Muğla) Turkey since May 2009.

My husband and I moved after having spent many holidays in different places all over Turkey. The choice for Dalyan seemed natural, because we have kept coming back ever since our first visit to Turkey in 1994.

The natural beauty of the Dalyan - Köyceğiz SPA is astonishing and worth preserving. Small wonder we met "Kaptan June" Haimoff while appreciating it and thus I ended up being her webmaster. All my contributions to Wikipedia and Wikimedia (in Dutch and English) will therefore be related to nature and the Dalyan - Köyceğiz SPA. After having worked with the foundation for four years I decided to broaden my horizon and, together with friends set up Dalyanlı, a volunteer group that tries to protect the natural, historical and cultural heritage of the SEPA. You can find Dalyanlı on Facebook and at our website. Among the activities of Dalyanlı are the weekly cleanups on the Dalyan waterways, assistance as the local dog shelter and a Water Jug Project to reduce the number of PET bottles that greatly contribute to the litter on the waterways.

My first contributions have been updates and corrections to the English June Haimoff page and creating a Dutch [June Haimoff] page. After that I made contributions in Dutch about:
