Amir Yazdanshenas born Jan 20, 1980, also known as Dr. Yazdan, is a cosmetic surgeon, author, and television personality.

Yazdan first appeared on the Doctors Show in 2012, and later on Larry King Live, Dr. Phil, and other TV programs.

Early life

Amir Yazdanshenas was born in Tehran, Iran, and emigrated to the United States at Age 1.

In 2006 he obtained his MD degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He went on to finish his residency training at Kaiser Permanente an Affiliate of the University of Southern California School of Medicine. From there he specialized in Facial Cosmetic Surgery and Hair Restoration surgery in both men and women

Career

Dr. Yazdan has been a professor at the Modena Institute of Cosmetic & Hair Restoration Surgery since 2011. His research interests include Hair replacement surgery, minimally invasive Hair restoration surgery, and facial cosmetic surgery. With his collaborators, he has authored over 20 research papers, book chapters, and medical books and has received several patents. He also works with TV shows and production companies as a Medical Consultant.

Dr. Yazdan is also famous for his metal fabrication and custom metal work. He has built over 20 custom motorcycles and specialty offroad vehicles, some of which were auction off to charity with proceeds going to St. Jude Childrens hospital. He holds a patent for an at home powdercoating system for do it yourself builders and was featured in multiple magazines including Hot Bikes. [1]

Dr. Yazdan has appeared as a Hair & Skin expert on The Doctors for 2 seasons.[2] On the show he addressed issues like Hair Loss and recent trends in hair restoration surgery, skin conditions, and life threatening emergencies such as asthma attacks.

Awards and honors

Huffington Post has labeled Dr. Yazdan as a true modern day hero[6] and The OC Register placed him on its list of the "Top 100 Heroes of 2013".[7]. Dr. Yazdan has also been featured on KNX1070 AM radio [8]. He has also been featured on USA Today for his heroic actions of saving an 11 year old boy that had died of an asthma attack on the side of the road on New Years Eve 2013. [9]
