The Indian School of Public Policy or the ISPP is a public policy school (1) located in Qutub Institutional Area, Delhi. It is an initiative by the Centre for Civil Society (2), a Delhi based, non-profit think tank. The ISPP was launched in October, 2018 (3) in the presence of N.K. Singh(5),the chairman of Fifteenth Finance Commission of India (4), Rajiv Mehrishi (6)– CAG, India (7) and Gurcharan Das(8), author and public intellectual (8). It offers a unique, one-year programme in Policy, Design and Management, the first batch starting in August, 2019. Shubhashis Gangopadhyay is the Founding Dean of the School. The ISPP is established as an independent public policy school, with special focus on practice based pedagogy. The philanthropic donations for the School have come from Nandan Nilekani (9), Vallabh Bhansali, and Jerry Rao (10). Vision The School’s vision is to develop future policy professionals and leaders by blending the design and practice of public policy, while inculcating a strong sense of ethics and leadership elements. It aims to develop an appreciation of the underlying dynamism of (Indian) society as well as empathy for the multiple stakeholders involved. Board and Faculty The Governing Council of the ISPP comprises of Luis Miranda, Parth J. Shah, Shubhashis Gangopadhyay, Balaji Srinivasan, and Yugank Goyal (11). Vijay Kelkar (12), Chairman(13); Shekhar Shah (Vice Chairman), Arvind Panagariya (14), Jessica Seddon (15), Shamika Ravi (16), Alex Tabarrok (17), among other notable names, constitute the Academic Advisory Council. The faculty comprise of highly-accomplished names, from India and abroad: Amir Ullah Khan (18), Shilpa Pandit, Shruti Rajagopalan, Pronab Sen (19), Gerard Alexander, Seema Chowdhry, Amitabh Mattoo (20), Razeen Sally, and other notable names. One-year, full time programme in Policy, Design and Management The one-year full-time programme comprises of eight academic terms of six weeks each. This includes regular classes and coursework, skill workshop and thematic foci of inquiries. Students are also expected to be part of policy exercises, mentored by people in academia and industry.
