Rana Dominic Gomes (Born July 27, 1974) Is a Chef his father Blasé Gomes and mother Geeta Gomes. Rana Gomes is the Eldest son in the family he has a younger Brother Anthony Gomes and Sister Philomena.

Life and career Born in, in Begopara Ranaghat, Nadia district West Bengal, India to Geetha Gomes and Blasé Gomes is the first child. He has one younger brother Anthony Gomes, who lives with his family in Kuwait, and one younger sister Philomena who lives in Bangalore He began his culinary journey as a helper in his Mother's kitchen, and learned the art of cooking and the use of spices from her. At the age of 14, he Used to cook food for his Siblings, whenever his parents were out. His passion for Cooking developed at the very young age, during family functions, main topic of the discussion was cooking, since His Father Blasé Gomes was a Chef himself and he mentored many Chefs including almost all family members and relatives. Rana Gomes currently is an Executive Chef of Hotel Royal Orchid Bangalore, one of the Fastest growing group of Hotels in India, Rana Gomes has worked for the Taj, Oberoi, St Marks, and Le Jeddah Meridian before Joining Lenôtre (Paris) Kuwait, and with some of the most influential chefs of the world including, Michelin Star Chef Sriram, French Chefs- Gerard Percheron, Michel Gautier, Swiss Master Chef Fredi Kuster, Ricardo Ramous, chef Saaman Hilal, BS Narula, Late Chef Ashok Chowla, and Australia’s CEC Richard Graham. Gomes completed his Schooling from St Patrick’s School Bangalore before joining as an Apprentice with Taj Gateway. Personal life Rana Gomes was inspired by his Mother who loved to cook, and grandmother her kitchen was a traditional village cooking, it was built outside the House, with Mud Bricks and Terracotta vessels were used, from very early age village cooking become inspiration and his family profession, and always surrounded with chefs. Rana Gomes Father Blasé Gomes was a chef in Calcutta Blue Fox restaurant one of the famous eateries in posh park street, even today. He was transferred to Bangalore branch in 1976 which was located than MG Road’s Srinagar Complex one of the oldest complex of Bangalore. Rana Gomes married Sharmista Gomes on 10th August 2003; he is a proud father of two Daughters, Simran Veronica Gomes and Rachel Tania Gomes. Sharmista Moved Bangalore after their wedding. And now she is settled in Bangalore. Awards and recognition Rana Gomes was awarded a King of Chefs title for winning the live cooking competition in 2010, where 7 Best celebrity chefs from five star Hotels participated in the competition Gomes not only knows to Cook, he has won many certificates for Ice carving, vegetables & fruit carving too. He is one of the very few chefs in Bangalore who has mastered artistic Skills of carving. He has judged many cookery competitions, including inter collegiate Invaders 99, AFFICHE 2000, External Examiner for many reputed Catering Collages Bangalore. He has given a lecture on Modern Arabic Cuisine, Molecular Gastronomy, and Fusion Food. Rana has authored many stories in Deccan Chronicle, on Knives, Colour, Tofu, Cherry, SMS, Tetra Eggs, and Shared Many Recipes in DNA, Deccan Chronicle, New Indian Express, Hindi, Femina, and many leading News papers and Magazines. Media appearances Rana Gomes appeared on numerous Television Shows, in June 2012, Story of Ice Cream Featured on News9, Making Ice Cream using Molecular techniques. In July Arts on the Rocks, Program about Molecular Mixology. In 2012, Rana Gomes Judge the TV Show Kitchen Kiladigalu (season 1),[34] an South Indian competitive cooking game show. Out of 45 Episode Chef Rana Gomes Appeared in 20 Episodes. Telecasted on Swarna TV. In September 2007, Rana Gomes was featured as the consultant chef & Judge on the Women’s Horlicks Cookery Queen TV show on Zee Kannada. On October, 2010, In January 2011 Chef Rana Gomes demonstrated Award winning Dish on NDTV’s Goodtime, (Gourmet Central) & also appeared on NEWS9’s Goodlife Mantra and Demonstrated Fusion Cooking.
