Ben Sanami/Morrill (6 February 1975 – 2 May 2013 ) was a potter, socio-linguist, cultural philanthropist, and activist best known for the research and application of an inexpensive ceramic water filter used to treat gray water in impoverished communities around the world as well as for his work as Zhuang and Japanese cultural philanthropist and the teaching language through the acquisition of a hobby so that the language learning process becomes secondary.

Life

Sanami/Morrill graduated from The University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. He also studied at Kyushu Kyoritsu University, Japan. Sanami/Morrill worked with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme in Himeshima, Japan, as well as with Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Oita, Japan. He co-founded Potters Without Borders in Enderby, Canada in 2006, and established the China Office in Ningming, Guangxi-Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.

Sanami/Morrill is a second generation Potter/Sculptor with interests in Japanese tea ceremony tea bowls and Chinese Yixing tea pots. From his field work around the world, he learned that human beings had lost their connection with the earth.

After moving to China in 2007, where he eventually married his wife, Piaopiao Huang, Sanami/Morrill worked in Guangxi at Yulin Normal University as a Japanese Teacher helping them to enhance their Japanese composition, conversation and learning language through culture, including pottery and Japanese traditional dance lessons.

Sanami/Morrill was CEO/Founder of SanamiOnline.net Productions.

Career

Sanami/Morrill contributed to over 10 different websites. His two main personal websites were 'FB Liangcha' which featured herbal cooling teas for sustainable & healthy living and 'The Iroha Project Foundation' which featured the learning language through image and audio.
