                                 Fraternity History

In the Fall of 1997, several men came together and decided to join a fraternal organization at the University at Buffalo, these men could not find an organization that represented them or their goals. Therefore, they decided to establish an organization that would represent African and Latino men.

Although these men decided to form this organization, they realized it would not be possible. However, there was a smaller group among them who believed that a fraternal organization still needed to be established. The organization would represent this smaller group and their goals.

After a period of intensive research and education, these men decided to form Beta Sigma Kappa Fraternity. This fraternity would serve as a "Brotherhood of Strength and Knowledge." Therefore, individuals would be assisted by the fraternity in educating and strengthening themselves.

The Founding Fathers began the process of establishing Beta Sigma Kappa Fraternity, Incorporated at the University at Buffalo during the Spring of 1998. Although, there were numerous obstacles in their path, these men never lost sight of their goal.

On March 16, 1998, the Brotherhood of Beta Sigma Kappa Fraternity, Incorporated was officially established at the University at Buffalo.

In 1998, the fraternal organization of Beta Sigma Kappa was formed. Beta Sigma Kappa Fraternity, Incorporated was established to accomplish several objectives.

The main objective of the organization is to help men develop their professional and leadership skills. In acquiring these abilities, the Brotherhood believes that men can effectively work to better themselves and their environment. The organization encourages education as a means to accomplish this objective, as well as the dissemination of knowledge to others. In this manner, the Brotherhood will continue to shape and assist future leaders. The organization exists to promote African and Latino culture throughout society. The Brothers of Beta Sigma Kappa are able to represent these cultures and understand how they are linked historically.

Although, these are the essential reasons for the existence of an Afro-Latino Fraternity, there is a deeper mentality or knowledge behind this. This reasoning encompasses different ideas and approaches. However, there is a common goal shared in the fraternity. This goal is the strengthening of men, as well as their communities. The Brotherhood produces individuals that take strong ideas and beliefs with them. These beliefs and ideas assist in the improvement of communities.

Beta Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Incorporated continually strives to upkeep its objectives and serve as a positive force in society.
