Thomas Patrick Ward (born 15 May 1994) is a British professional boxer who currently holds the british super-bantamweight title.

Amateur Career

Ward had 64 junior contest's and won 60. He won a National Schoolboy title, 2 Junior ABA's, 2 National Boy's Clubs title's and 4 British Junior Title's. At International level he was a bronze medallist at the European Schoolboy's tournament in Serbia and a Gold medallist at the European Under 17's in the Ukraine.[1]

Ward controversially quit amateur boxing to turn professional – despite being only 17 years of age and not having a senior amateur contest. This despite the fact that the then Birtley boxer, was voted Best Junior Boxer by the ABA and won European gold.[2]

Professional career

Ward won his first 20 professional fights including victory over Robbie Turley which was a British title eliminator.[3]

He then fought Jazza Dickens for the British Super-Bantamweight title in Leeds on 13th May 2017. Ward won the title by Unanimous Technical Decision in the 9th round due to an accidental clash of heads resulting in the bout going to the score cards.[4]

Ward's first defense of the British Super-Bantamweight title would come against Sean Davis on 11th November 2017. The contest went the distance of 12 rounds and Ward retained his belt with the three judges scoring 117 - 112, 118 - 111, 118 - 111 all to the West Rainton man.[5]
